The word “vinyasa” translates to the word “flow.” In a vinyasa style class, each asana (pose) is linked to the next using the breath. This creates a rhythmic flow of movement that transforms a yoga practice into a moving meditation. Vinyasa can be practice slow or fast and still achieve the same results. Viva Flow Yoga offers a variety of well-balanced yoga classes for all fitness and experience levels.  Get started today!

Restorative Yoga

Restorative yoga is very relaxing and is a good complement to more active practices or for those who need deep relaxation. A Restorative Yoga practice acts as a therapeutic tool to heal the body and the mind. When you practice regularly, the health benefits, such as improved concentration, decreased anxiety and stress, improved sleep, stronger immune system, normalized weight, improved digestion and reduce blood pressure become apparent. This style of yoga is a form of passive stretching and deep relaxation.  It is a practice that leaves you feeling open and refreshed. Appropriate for all levels.

Flow - Mixed Levels

This class consists of a variety poses linked to your breath to help release energy, gain flexibility and increase stamina.  Vinyasa yoga is a series of poses that will move you through the power of inhaling and exhaling with each movement.  The continual movements, from one pose to another, gives you an added cardiovascular benefit.  The routine practice of vinyasa yoga can increase muscle strength, endurance,  flexibility, and reduce high levels of stress. This style allows for a lot of variety, and will almost certainly include sun salutations. Expect movement, not just stretching.  Teachers may make modifications for all levels.

Heated Flow

This class is a vinyasa class in a heated room (85-90 degrees). The heat will increase your ability to go deeper into each pose, as well as build your stamina.  Your sweat will help you rid your body of toxins and the sequence of poses will allow you to deepen your connection to your body.   This class consists of a variety poses linked to your breath to help release energy, gain flexibility and increase stamina.  These classes are moderately challenging and may include inversions and/or arm balances.  (May not be appropriate for beginners or individuals sensitive to heat.)

Power Flow

This class is a vinyasa (flow) class in a heated room (85 degrees). Be prepared to sweat, as your body moves through a vigorous sequence of poses, including backbends, inversions and arm balances. You will be challenged and invigorated by this faster paced practice.   If you are looking for a physical and mental workout, this is the class for you!  (Not recommended for beginners.)

"Pay What You Can" Flow

Everyone should have access to yoga! This is our offering to the community for everyone to come practice with us, regardless of how much you can pay for the class.  This All Levels Flow class includes a moderate amount of movement and breath work.  You will gain flexibility, endurance and focus.

Flow 101

In this class the focus is on alignment and technique in yoga postures, with attention to energy in the body through the breath. The pace of this class is comfortable as the purpose is on learning and “getting it”, rather than on having an intense workout.   It is designed like a "mini workshop" in order to explore these topics and encourage questions.  Appropriate for beginners and those wanting to build a solid foundation for their practice.

Yin Yoga

In a very"yang" world, a calm and cool "yin" practice is the necessary counter partto balance the active and passive elements of our bodies and minds.  You will hold seated poses for several minutes to activate the muscle tissue, followed by release of the pose to allow the tissue to rest.    Yin poses target the fascia (connective tissue surrounding our muscles, organs, joints and bones) to release muscle tension, energetic blockages and increase proper organ function.  Yin yoga increase mobility, mental focus and the ability to breathe through physical discomfort. Yin is a complimentary addition to one's more active vinyasa practice or athletic training.

Yin Yoga w/Aromatherapy

Same yummy goodness as the Yin description above with an added bonus!  Aromatherapy has long been used in a healing modality to enhance rejuvenation and restoration of physical and mental function.  This class uses the scents of various essential oils to enhance the experience of your movement and breath.  Get ready to sink deep within your body and breathe deep into your soul.  Not recommended for those who are sensitive to scent.  This class is appropriate for all levels of fitness.
